Current Big Trip: Disney World in January 2019

My current big trip is a family Disney World trip. Because of our scheduling flexibility, I chose the end of January for several reasons. The first is because that seems to be when Disney World is almost the slowest it gets. It's not too hot and not too cold, and we have a strong preference for visiting places in the off season. Not only is it often cheaper but the crowds are smaller! Disney is no exception and we're excited to not have to face hordes of sweaty people. Another major reason is because we need something to break up the harsh Minnesota winter. Last year was brutal for me and I'm hoping having something like this trip to work on will help. So, we're planning an almost 2 week stay in Orlando, going to Disney for 9 days.

We've never done Disney as a family. I've been to the Magic Kingdom 3 times in my life, each for a single day. We aren't Disney people necessarily. After my father died last year, he left some money for each of his children. I decided to use it on making memories. We used half to purchase and renovate Scamper the Camper. The other half will be on this trip. I initially was inclined to take the family to Europe, somewhere I've never been and am dying to go, but after thinking about our kids and their preferences, a week or two of museums and landmarks sounded like something they'd struggle with. So we're going fun instead.

Disney is very intimidating for the uninitiated. There are so many tips and intricacies and I felt like I need to have a firm grasp on how it all works to be able to feel like I'm getting the most out of this trip. Almost every detail so far has been painstakingly researched. Good thing I love doing it!
